This Easter holidays, the community of the Snowy Mountains will get their own sneak preview of the inaugural Snowy Mountains of Music festival with a free public concert.
At 7pm on Tuesday 14th April the Snowy Mountains of Music festival will be launched at The Man from Snowy River Hotel in Perisher. This is a chance for the local community to celebrate this very exciting new music festival together whilst gaining an exclusive taste of some of the fantastic bands which will play at the festival on the June long weekend.
Featured festival bands taking to The Man stage for the Snowy Mountains of Music Preview Concert are iconic folk music ambassadors and bush band Wongawilli, (pictured) who have entertained audiences at festivals right across Australia, Europe and China. Next up is Big Erle who will charm listeners with his special blend of bent bluegrass with an afro twist with a sound reminiscent of the blues music of the 1930’s and 40’s. Finally The Big Snore Hammers will get everyone out on the floor with their songs, reels and jigs from all corners of the world including French Canada, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and Scotland.
From Friday 5 June to Monday 8 June, the Snowy Mountains of Music festival will open the 2009 Australian Snow Season and is a chance to experience some great new sounds of world, folk, roots, celtic, acoustic, song, dance, poetry and yarn-spinning across 10 diverse venues in Perisher Valley, Smiggins & Guthega.
