EXPERIENCE A WORLD OF MUSIC
AMONGST THE SNOW GUMS

Perisher Resort will open the 2009 Winter Snow Season with a bang with a vibrant, new 3 day festival packed with live music at the snow over the June long weekend. From Friday 5 June to Monday 8 June, the Snowy Mountains of Music is a chance to experience the wonder of the high country in Winter whilst listening to some great new sounds of world, folk, roots, celtic, acoustic, traditional music, song, dance, poetry and yarn spinning.

The Snowy Mountains of Music is presented by the Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce and led by folk aficianado David De Santi who has been the Artistic Director of the famed Illawarra Folk Festival since 1996.
“I am very pleased to announce this exciting new festival which will bring the Snowys alive with some fantastic music over the June long weekend. “ says Belinda Shore, President of the Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce.”

Artistic Director David De Santi adds “The Snowy Mountains of Music is going to be a sumptuous musical feast which will celebrate music traditions from around the world in spectacular venues high in the mountains.”

The Snowy Mountains of Music will take place in up to 10 diverse indoor venues across Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes. There’s a wide variety of music to suit everyone’s tastes. Curl up around the fire and let your soul sing with intimate acoustic sessions and songs from around the world. Get out on the floor with some jumping rhythms, late night jam sessions and themed concerts. Learn something new at the many workshops and wake up to daily poetry breakfasts in your very own Winter wonderland.

The June long weekend is the official start of the Australian Ski Season, so it will be cold and there will be snow to enjoy, especially for first-timers. There are some fantastic festival pass, lift ticket and accommodation packages on offer, with daily lift passes for skiing at $56 per adult and $25 per child when booked with your accommodation package.

The Snowy Mountains of Music festival begins on Friday afternoon and continues at pace over Saturday and Sunday, finishing with a not-to-be-missed Finale event on Monday afternoon. It promises to be a very unique festival, so get out your favourite winter woollies and book now to get your earlybird discount rate,.
