Given the Snowy Mountains’ connection with one of Australia’s most famous poems, ‘The Man From Snowy River’, it’s not surprising that poetry and verse will feature prominently in the 2nd Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music on the June long weekend. In recognition of the significance that verse and the spoken word has had in the region, the Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music will be holding an open poetry competition called the Broken Ski and the Snowy Poetry Cup will be given to the best recited poem at the festival. 2009 Winners
The Snowy Poetry Cup for a live a recitation at the festival was awarded to Zondrae King of Corrimal, NSW for her poem Uncle Clyde. Click here to read it.

If you would like to enter an original poem in the Broken Ski Award, please submit it electronically from the website: http://snowymountainsofmusic.com.au/poetry The Broken Ski Award will be awarded for the best submitted original verse at the Finale concert at Smiggins Hotel on Monday 14 June.. ------------------------------------------------------ SNOWY POETRY CUP (awarded at Festival) The Snowy Poetry Cup will be awarded for the best recitation of an original or traditional poem. It will be decided at the festival on Sunday 13th June at the Sundeck Hotel.
